So my red blood count had always been normal...matter of fact all my blood work has been normal minus the inflammation levels. But...I went had blood work a few weeks ago and it showed my red blood cells was down along with something else high. I was told it could be from b 12 or iron deficiency, bone marrow issues, and something else...I forget. My white blood count (which has always been normal) was borderline low.

Has anyone had any issues with their blood work since starting remicade? ? I have been on it since November of last year and so scared they are gonna make me stop it if the numbers continue to drop.

I had rectal bleeding so bad last year they thought I was gonna need a blood transfusion then..and my red blood cells was never low .

Are you also on azathioprine? It can cause blood disorders, decreased bone marrow function leading to anemia, low number of white blood cells and platelets. This happened to me before I started on Remicade, when they increased my dosage. Not sure if it effects red blood cells too.

Imuran is azathioprine. Hasn't your doctor contacted you about the blood work? I was told to get off Imuran right away, for about a month. Once my blood work was going back up, I got on a lower dose of it. Maybe they are waiting to see if it gets worse.

I would definitely think it was either from the Imuran or that you have some inflammation that is currently uncontrolled in your body, and that's what you're losing blood from/why you're malabsorbing nutrients. I wouldn't think it's the Remicade at all.
