have had crohns a little over a year now.

Hello my name is Cory Burnett. Ive had crohns for a little bit now. Ive never really liked doctors so it took me close to 8 months to even get checked. My wife, at that time my fiance, forced me to go see a doctor after many months of constant bathroom visits and bloody results. It was a few weeks befor our wedding. I was more sick than i realized i had lost close to 40 pounds in a very short time, very bad since i have never weighed over 125 in my life. I was sick through out our wedding and honeymoon, at this point i weighed about 98 lbs. So i didnt get to enjoy vegas as much as i would have liked. When we returned from vegas i went straight to a specialist, after a colonoscopy and a few other tests it was confirmed crohns. now its been a while and im medded up on pentasa and mercaptopurine. im just looking for some ideas from and stories of others. ideas on what to eat or any thing you could provide. i love to meet and help new people :)
i hate meds and dont really like doctors.
A few other things about me, im straight edge, im big in the local music scene, i know alot of people, i love to help strangers and friends alike. Im very nice and easy going.

Hi Cory welcome to the forum :bigwave: I am glad you are a social butterfly we need those ;). Only 98 lbs? Wow that is alot for guy to be down to such a low weight. I am glad your wife pushed you in the earlier months. Most people are major fans of doctors or medications but it is something we have to endure. Bleeding is always a bad sign and should never be ignored. Most people do well on a low residue diet and stay away from Dairy. Stress is a culprit to the gut and rest is so important. Getting the right amount of sleep helps you heal.

Most people have arthritis too, I do but I am alot older lol. Glad you are lurking about and we have great people here to help you along the way and we can learn from you too. Welcome aboard!!

Thnak you and good to meet you. :)
Yes my doctor mentioned the stress thing to me. I am a major stresser. Even when there is nothing to stress about.
right now im stressing because fed ex was supposed to deliver my pentasa today but it didnt get here.... and im out of my current supply as of 25 minutes ago.. got to call my doctor.
I have been trying to stay away from dairy but i love ice cream and chocolate!!
What do you mean by low residue?

Hi Cory! It is so sad that you weren't well to fully enjoy your wedding or honeymoon! But I am glad to hear things are more under control now. Has your arthritis improved with treatment? I don't have arthritis, but I get the worst back aches! But, I am with you 100% as far as being a major stresser! However, I think with having Crohn's, I have learned to let things roll off my back more, because stressing out only makes things worse!

The arthritis has somewhat moved on. But it still hits me hard once in awhile. i wouldnt be bothered so much if it wasnt in my lower legs and feet. and it hits real hard when it does so my life goes on hold due to the fact i cant even stand up. It has been a month or so since the last time i was afftected though.
As for the stress, i stress and dont even realize it. runs in my family. My wife will look at me and be like "Cory, Stop." Shes knows im stressing befor i do lol.

Hi Cory and welcome!

Your wife sounds like a keeper! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you hate doctors and meds.... we all have to learn to love both with this disease!

There's lot of great ideas in the diet and fitness threads. A nice lo-res diet full of carbs and ensure should start to put some weight on you in no time!
