Hi I'm 48 and was diagnosed with Crohn's about 39 years ago. I am interested in communicating with people who are in my situation. I've not met anyone who has had it as long as me.

I was around 9 when I was diagnosed. At that time there were only 2 drugs available. Sulfazaladine and Prednisone. I grew up normally, I'm 5'7", most of my life I was very thin. I am now overweight. I've had one resection in my life. This was due to a partial blockage, abscess and fistula internally. I also had a lot of rectal fistula's and one surgery for this.

I've been pretty lucky and have done well with the medicines. I now have chronic pain in my back and joints. I also have a lot of symptoms most of the time. If you've had the illness quite a long time, I'd be interested in hearing your story! Thanks! Pam.:rosette1:

Hi Pam! 14 years with IBD here! No complications, only joint issues since 3 years. I thought purinethol/Imuran had been available for about 50 years? I may be wrong...
what are you taking now?

22 yrs diagnosed, but symptoms for at least 25. One resection. Daily symptoms and taking lots of Meds. Just trying to stay positive, not let it own me. Thankful for everyday I'm feeling okay.
