When Sarah was diagnosed I was both naive and relieved. So it was the second time around that it really hit me hard. I think it was the devastation of now knowing that both of my children had this disease and being fully aware of the consequences, but it also having the knowledge that on the second run resulted in a very quick diagnosis and even when everything went from bad to worse I was able to advocate in a way that I couldn't with Sarah.

Diagnosis aside I think one of the things that impacted the most both on Matt and the family was the tyranny of distance. It goes without saying that I would go to the ends of the Earth to ensure my children had the best treatment but that still doesn't negate the fact that being a long way from home takes its toll.

Thanks for posting mlp. :)
