I'm having one major problem that is completely hindering any chance of decreasing my symptoms or getting mildly better and it's my inability to swallow pills. I know it sounds ridiculous and childish, but despite all my effort I have an absolutely horrible time trying to swallow a pill. I don't know if it is some sort of mental block or something, but when ever I go to swallow a pill my gag reflexes simply prevent me from doing so. I've tried cutting the pills up, putting them on the edge of my glass and then quickly drinking, and many other alternatives, but they've all had poor results. Chewing them with food is generally not an option due to the horrid tastes of the pill and some of their side effects literally causing one's throat to swell. I get the feeling that my doctors don't really sympathize with this and probably think I should stop wussing out, but it's a real problem and I don't know what to do. Liquid alternative for these medicines generally aren't available.

It came to the point that I simply went without, but I don't think I can afford to do-so anymore. It's gotten to the point that my symptoms (Diarrhea, nausea, etc.) are robbing me of anything and everything I enjoy in life and only making my days constant struggles.

Any pointers? I honestly don't know where to go or look for help anymore.

Maybe if you start with just a tiny sprinkle, you know - the candy kind that they put on ice cream? Then move up to a mini-sized M&M, then a small jelly bean, then a regular sized M&M. Try all different ways - I get a mouthful of water then slip the pill and let if float to the back of my throat so it doesn't get caught by your tongue. Practice with non-pill items should make it easier.
