Anybody else experencing severe, almost migraine staus headaches? Our daughter is and we cannot pinpoint the cause.

Hi taterslady - is your daughter on any new meds? Claire complained of headaches when we first started methotrexate.

Hi there. Migraine headaches was one of my symptoms prior to diagnosis. Also, I got bad headaches when I started Imuran, but splitting the dose really helped.

My daughter experienced headaches like that prior to her diagnosis. Since her diagnosis and subsequent remission they have disappeared.

Headaches can be an extra intestinal manifestations of Crohn's when flaring and as J and Helen have said, they are often a side effect of medication.

What medications is your daughter on?

When did the headaches start?

What has the course of her Crohn's been? Has she attained remission at all since her diagnosis?

Started Methotrexate 1 week ago and have had Migraine type headache ever since. Also slept for first 2 days and been very tired all week. Day 6 got acne type rash on my face. I never tolerate drugs well, and after a year of badgering and far too much prednisone have finally agreed to try this awful drug. Needless to say, i am not looking forward to giving my second jab tonight. My heart goes out to all the others going through this dreadful minefield of medication.

Could be dehydration. Alex gets frequent headaches, though not migraine-level. Some are also from fatigue, hayfever, hunger.

DustyCat....you seem to write pretty much what I'm about to. Lol, I agree, crohns, meds, and like Jenn said, dehydration and sometimes not eating well too. If there's a bacterial issue also, which is common with ibd, then these issues can cause migrain headaches as well, and fatigue etc. But so can just crohns. If flu symptoms with the jheadaches, and relived by hydration, probiotics etc, then look into candida. Many meds can put our bodies out of balance, for me it was prednisone, but most crohns meds are imunesuppressive, and so bacterial overgrowth can become an issue. Best wishes xo

Geez... I started to respond to this thread that Alex has suffered in the past from migraines, but as of recent (knock on wood) he's been doing great. Instead of posting, I left to run some errands and while out Alex got a migraine ( He's now asleep....

Soooo.... Alex does get migraines. I have thus far attributed it to dehydration because the majority of the time he gets them during Hockey season - and the boys *sweats* like crazy on the ice (they say a hockey player can lose anywhere between 3 to 10 lbs during a game due to sweat!) Given it can be difficult to get him to rehydrate fast enough, he gets migraines.

Today's headache? No idea. :eek:/
