Well, I have an update from my earlier post about excessive gas. I knew I wasn't lucky enough for it to be something simple. I got into my GI yesterday and he sent me for a CT immediately after my appointment. I got a call this am and was told that it looked like I had a partial bowel obstruction and that they had already called my surgeon and I needed to call their office to see what time I needed to go in. Well I went this afternoon and he confirmed that what's going on is the small intestine looks like it is twisting in the area where they reattached my liver in my last surgery. I am scheduled for Thursday AM. I just started feeling somewhat normal again! This really sucks!!! :ymad:

Oh man, I wish you the best of luck. I guess it's better they caught it before it got really bad though.

Sorry to hear that. I guess I'm a little surprised that they could see such detail as "twisting" in the CT scan. But I'm no CT analyst. It's just that when I looked at my CT scans I couldn't tell anything.

That's a little disturbing since I've had a big increase in gas and constipation lately as well. My pain level is down though.

Good luck, and hopefully they'll just untangle the cords for you and you'll keep all the intestines you have.

thank you all very much. Yes, I am hoping that it will just be a simple take the kink out, I don't want to loose any more of my insides.

Wow. Like the others say best of luck and quick recovery. When you say excessive gas...how excessive? Was it causing bloating. Good thing you didn't ignore the symptoms.

aw really sorry to hear that :( wishing you loads of luck with the procedure, i hope like you say they can just ease the kinks without cutting anything.

Sorry to hear of this most recent turn of events. Wishing you a speedy/uneventful recovery. As, to anyone else contemplating hitting the panic button because you have 'extra' gas.... just keep in mind that gas itself does not indicate a problem.

Healthy or unhealthy, GI systems have gas. a change in food, or some soda pop, or increased/new pro-biotics... ALL can change/increase your gas levels.
There is something that I do watch for with my gas... that's changes in odour. I not making a joke here... no silly pun to follow this time. But I have noticed the 'unmistakeable' odour of IBD has greatly diminished from my own 'outpourings'

I was in the hospital recently and my Doc said he really couldn't tell any narrowing from the CT. Though it may be easier to see strangulation.
