Hi guys my name is Jessi and i was diagnoes with ulcerative colitis at 13, and after a bowel reconstruction, i was diagnosed with crohns at 18. I'm now 21 and very frustrated :( this is porbably the worst thing to happen to me. Even though i took the regular meds (prednisone, flagyl, 6MP) all that crap for 7 years, my body stopped responding to them so now, i'm on the IV infusion Remicade. The infusion works but, it makes me break out and I've gained 30 lbs in a month. I'm also still having a hard time with managing my pain and to be honest, I'm sick and tired of being treated like a drug addict or as they say "a seeker". I'm not a freaking seeker and I'm just wondering if anyone else has a problem with getting the right meds from thier GI doctors? :voodoo:

I agree with Pen if you're not happy with your current GI find a new. You have to be able to trust your doctor. I am really lucky in 19 years I have only seen 2 doctors one in pediatrics the other as a regular adult GI but my personality really clicked with both of them. My pediatric doctor actually picked my current GI for me. Ask for a second opinion, because you are entitled to it. If they treat you like an addict then they are not doing their job. If you are in that much pain go to the ER then maybe your doc will start taking you seriously. Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to the forum Jessi!

I am sorry that you are recently experiecing problems with your condition and GI. I agree with the others if it is possible to find a GI you can have a better relationship with, as it will make you feel more comfortable to be with them.

Good luck and keep us updated.
