Thought i would finally stop by and say hi

My story is alot different then most members here seein is that i dont have crohns. The reason why i joined is because my wife and step father have it. And my wife is a member on this forum you may know her as maimmie on here. She always says good things about the site and sitting around at the hospital today i thought i would check it out.

Everyone here seems ti be really nice and i am glad to see there are still people out there that care about complete strangers

Hi Carey965 and :welcome:

I'm sorry to hear your wife and step father suffer from CD. I myself don't have CD either, it's my son that has this horrible disease.

Your are totally right.....the people here are fantastic, everyone is very very supportive, caring and willing to share any information they have. You will be really happy you joined :)

My dad has been lucky hes been in remission for years. He had more problems with fibromialgia (cant spell)

But with my wife its been alot more complicated i am actually typing this waiting for her to be brought to her room after having a ileiostomy (sorry still cant spell)

Its funny i look at you signature and notice she has had the same things as your son
Its good to see other family members

Hello and welcome to the forum, I am pleased that you have decided to come check the place out.

I am sorry to hear that your wife has had to have surgery, will the ilieostomy be permanent or are there plans for a reversal down the line? You might like to check out our stoma sub forum so you have a chat with the folks here about what to expect: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46. What meds has she been on leading up to the op? Is this her first surgery?

Its a temp and i have actually been in there. Sheactually has a pretty big thread on it

She has been on remicade, humira vedolouzamab (i think) as well as the usuals like steroids and what not. The only one that actually helped and put her in remission was remicade but when she got pregnant with our son she went off it and developed an severe allergic reaction and then it has been all downhill since.
Even had a right hemi and that only really helped for about 6 months to a year and now she has had fistulas so bad it led to this. They even found active dieses today and had to do 2 resectionings before they gave her the stoma.

She really has been through the mill with this! I hope she can have a good recovery and be home soon.

Sending lots of hugs and best wishes to you both.

Oh my, she really is having a tough time right now :( hopefully once she recovers from this surgery she will start to feel better and get back into remission.

My son was very fortunate and did not require a ilieostomy, they were able to reconnect and remove all the diseased area but I have read many success stories (as I am sure you have also) of having a temp stoma and the relief it provides while things calm down.

Will be sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers to your wife :ghug: make sure you get some rest too!! I know that after my son's surgery he really depended on me a lot for a couple weeks and was quite exhausting, worth every second, but still wore me out.

Please keep us posted on how she is doing and I hope your father continues to stay in remission thats terrific news
