Hello all,

I was diagnosed with Crohn's back in 1989, when I was 18. I learned I had the disease in a rather dramatic fashion -- after having mystery pain on and off for several months, my cecum ruptured, and I was hospitalized for nine days. Since then, thank goodness, I have been mostly in remission (very rare pain, but probably more diarrhea than the average person). After a long period of no health insurance, I am now covered, and I am anxious to take advantage of it and get checked up and have a colonoscopy (haven't had one since 1996). I don't currently have a gastroenterologist, and joined the forum hoping to find recommendations. I live in Queens NY. If anyone can direct me to the appropriate part of the forum to do this, I would be grateful! Thank you :)

Hi and welcome to the forum! :welcome:

My goodness. Sounds like you've gone through quite a bit since being diagnosed. Glad to hear that you've mostly been in remission!

As far as looking for a new GI doctor. A great place to check out would be our Doctor Reviews section! We also have a place called: Doctor Directory between Chat & Resources up top that you can click on as well.

Please feel free to take a look around on here and please let me know if you have any other questions. Take care!

Hi Cloudsby and welcome to the forum! :D

I'm glad that you finally have health insurance. I know it can really affect people's care and its a constant worry of mine since I also live in the US. Let us know when you get settled with a GI and when your tests are going to be. We'd love to know how things have been since your last scope (hopefully all good news). :)

In case you didn't find it here's the Doctor Directory: http://www.crohnsforum.com/doctor/
