Hello, I am so glad that I have found this forum.

I was diagnose with Crohn's disease during my A levels, the Doctors thought that the symtoms were IBS, stress related due to exams etc etc etc etc. Being 5ft5 and weighed 8st went down to 7 st in 2 weeks one doctor decided it was time to go to hospital. I was eventually diagnosed with Crohn's disease which was such a relief at the time as I new I would get help.

I have been on steroid treatment on and off during the first 4/5 years of the disease until I had a bone scan and was diagnosed with oesteoporosis. So no more steroids for me!

I have been fortunate not to need an operation, I am currently on Humira (adalimumab) injections which seem to be working, however after 7 years of the disease and 25 years of age I still struggle dealing with the problems this disease brings and I think this forum will help... :):)

Hi tinkerbell and welcome to the forum! There are plenty of us young'uns about somewhere (I'm 25 too). Are you struggling with anything in particular?

Welcome. Domas, I was in Dubrovnik in 1989. Beautiful city. It's a shame what happened to it during the war. I thought it was pretty much destroyed.

Hi, I have not been on in awhile. My daughter has Crohn's and had surgery a year ago August. She has been doing well and is on mercaptopurine, remicade, vitamin b, vitamin d, and folic acid. After surgery she did great and eats pretty normal. My concern is that she has been gaining weight and is now 165 pounds, she was down to almost 65 pounds when she was sick. She is not very active, does love to swim and ride her bike. She is 14 and was diagnosed when she was 12. She does stay away from popcorn, corn and most raw veggies. I worry that symptoms will come back. She was also on prednisone on and off before her surgery.

Hey Tinkerbell and welcome :)
Like Rebecca said, there are quite a few of us on here in our 20's so we can all relate to what you're going through and we're always happy to talk and listen.
I'm glad you're doing well on Humira :D
There's a Humira club thread that you might find interesting or where you might be able to help others by sharing your experiences: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=6500&page=15&highlight=humira

Welcome :bigwave: glad you are joining us. Stress is a major culprit for this disease and many others. Prednisone works in high doses but best to avoid it long term. I just got off pred and I lost two pounds cause I know how easy it is to gain weight on it. Also the weight is hard on your joints and bones. Taking adequate Calcium and Vitamin D3 helps the bones and the disease.

Glad the Humira is working for you, I tried it for 6 months and then stopped working. Hope you continue to be stable.:ysmile:
