My name is Sue and I was just diagnosed with chrons disease 2 weeks ago. I'm 38 years old and have been having GI problems for like a year now. My dad found this forum for me and I've been reading periodically since then. I'm currently taking nexium, prednisone and pentasa. I'm feeling better, but its just overwhelming. I still haven't returned to work yet, but hopefully will be able to return next week.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who's taking pentasa and their experiences.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue and welcome! I am glad to hear you are feeling better physically with treatment, but I am sorry you aren't doing as well mentally. However, being overwhelmed is completely normal, as being diagnosed with a chronic illness isn't something to take lightly. I am still struggling to come to terms with it, but it does get better. I find it helps to stay well informed about my disease, and the forum is a great place to do just that. I look forward to seeing you around!

HI Sue and welcome!

I hear ya. The Crohn's dx can take a long time to accept. It took me months before I could even say it without crying. Give yourself some time. Don't be overwhelmed by some of the scary stuff you will read here on the forum. There are also many success stories and people who live very full, functional lives. This is the place we come to let it all hang out!

Good luck, I hope your current treatment continues to work well for you.

Hi Sue,
Welcome to the forum. I was never on Pentasa, but took Asacol for years. They are both similar. I suspect the Prednisone is making you feel better - that is one of the effects - a sense of well being. But, one can't stay on that for too long.

So hopefully the Pentasa kicks in after your stop the Pred.
