Hi,
I have had Crohns for 12 years now. My Crohns was under control until i had my first child in 2009. I was put on Pentasa and when I would have a flare I was put on prednisone.
When I got pregnant in 2009 my Crohns went haywire. Constant flares, trips to the hospital and i also developed Pyoderma Gangrenosum on my left leg lower calf. I was placed on bed rest, antibotics, prednisone, had weekly therapy for the pyoderma that i developed. Then in my 5th month of pregnancy my iron levels dropped so low I had to have blood tranfusions and take weekly Iron IV's. The pregnancy was very long....and nerve racking wondering what this was doing to my baby. Then things started to look up Chrons was under control pyoderma healing and iron levels going up. I had a beautiful baby boy which is my entire world.
Everything was good until I had another flare 3 months after I had him. I tried Remicade. The first treatment went well. Felt better immediatly. When i went for the second one I had a major reaction. So my doctor stopped using. Now I am on Humira 2x's monthly and have been on it for 5 months now and its getting a little better. I am hoping I continue down the road to recovery.
