Hi, my names Daniel, I'm 22, and i live in Chicago, Illinois. I've recently been diagnosed with Crohn's. It basically started 2 months ago when i was having bloody stools which scared the living hell outta me. A few days later i had a decreased appetite and horrendous nausea which drove me to call a doctor. It was my first time seeing a doctor in years since i usually seldomly get sick and I've always been quite healthy and i'm also athletic and in pretty good shape. It was quite hard talking to my doctor about my symptoms but I got the words out and told her what was wrong. She then examined me and assured me i was fine and setup an appointment to meet a GI specialist at a hospital.
So I went to my appointment to see the GI specialist and a resident took a look at me. She said she couldn't(it kinda sucks being seen by an attractive female doctor, i blushed so many times talking to her) tell me anything i haven't heard already until i had a colonoscopy performed. So she told me she'd call me about my opening. Later on she calls me and tells me its 3 months from then. I was like f that; me being an impatient person i felt 3 months was too long for me to wait what the hell was wrong with me. Crohn's took a physical toll as well as an emotional/mental toll on me so i was feeling really depressed and desperate. I'm not much of an emotional person but i cried many days cause my symptoms were so distressing. So i went to another doctor and he scheduled the colonoscopy a few days later. I thanked god and started going to church again after not having attended for years.
The prep was horrible. I was on the trilyte solution with flavor packs(i went with cherry) and it tasted horrible. So to down it, i pinched my nose and chugged as much as i could at a time. It actually helped alot and made it easier. But burping it after a chug was the worst thing ever. The colonscopy was the easiest pain free part of the process. They sedated me with some stuff that made me abit drowsy but put me like in a happy mood, was like the greatest high ever :ybatty:. I was even able to look at the inside of my colon on the tv though i don't remember much of it. Just some orange like blurrs or something.
Well after taking a look and taking some biopsies, it was determined I had Crohn's. They put me on mesalamine and i'm feeling better. The bleeding is quite minimal now(doctor said it should go away if not then more meds will be needed) and my appetite is pretty much back to normal. I think this maybe happened to me for the better. I quit smoking marijuana, I'm going to sleep earlier and getting more rest, i drink way less alcohol though i still like to have an occasional white russian, I'm going to church again every Sunday with my parents, and I'm on a healthier diet. I'm definately feeling like a better person now. Thanks for reading!!
