Hi I'm Ethan. I'm 17 years old and have had crohns since I was 5. I'm from NY and play varsity soccer. The only "hospital" medicine I take now is pentasa, I've just tapered off prednisone. I've been taking an herbal medicine route for about a year and although the relief isn't instant like hospital medicine, there are no repercussions. I also found out I can't eat gluten a couple months ago and it was heartbreaking! Haha gluten free bread just isn't the same. I'm pretty social however I like to stay home a bit more than the average teen on account of it being like a "safehouse" with a clean and close bathroom lol. So that's basically my cool story.

Hey, good for you you managed fine all these years.

What herbs do you use, boswellia / ginger? Something else?

I use skullcap, chamomile, albizia, and a whole bunch more, however my naturopath (spelling??) is starting to take some of these off as I am getting a little bit better. I also get Chinese acupuncture, it's not like needles either, it has to do with energy waves (idk I was skeptical about it lol) but it actually has been working.

Never tried acupuncture, I have only used skullcap (scutellaria) out of those. I have no issues with it and it has a very high toxicity lvl, so it's relatively safe and easy on the liver.

Hey Ethan ha. I also played soccer in highschool and had to deal with crohns and the high school atmosphere. These forums are a good place to relate to other people who are in the same situation as you! Welcome!

Welcome!

I have a 17 yr old son who plays HS baseball. He dosent have Crohns- I do- but- I admire the fact you push through and not let CD get the best of you!

Hi Ethan and welcome to the community!

I hear you on the gluten free bread. I LOVE sandwiches and that's what I miss more than anything :(

Albizia? Wow, that's interesting. Do you know if it's the leaves, bark, or something else? When I lived in Hawaii I had HUGE Albizia trees on my land.
