Hi everyone.

So a few days ago I was told if the meds I am on do not work in two weeks I will be starting the talk about surgery.

What has everyone surgery experiences been? should I seek a second opinion first or should I go through with it right away? Mind you I have been on alot of medications without success including Remicade.

Does anyone have any idea what my surgery would be? Ie what kind?

My disease is in the entire large intestine and I have been bleeding since July. (not too much but enough that the doctor is concerned). If any other info is needed please feel free to ask.

I always think that two opinions are needed when it comes to surgery for anything. I didn't have that choice. I was rushed to the hospital at 1am, doubled over and had the surgery, but it was needed. If you have time, a 2nd opinion does not hurt. Do you have Crohns?

I didn't have a choice either the treatment wasn't working but if you've had everything and that's the last opinion then I would just do it. I know its not that easy. If you feel safer getting a second opinion then you do that. You been on prednisone? good luck and let me know what happens xx

Thanks to you both. Yes I have Crohns, I was on Prednisone for 6 months straight because I kept having issues. I am truly suffering. If my doctor says I need the surgery I will do it right away. It's my mom that wants the second opinion. I just want my problems to go away and finally get better.

If you have the surgery it will make you feel so much better afterwards once you have recovered. I have my life bk now anything is better than going the toilet 20-30 times a day! You will think why didn't I do this sooner. I hope you get better soon and keep us posted. Good luck to you xx
