Hi, i am 17 years old and was diagnosed with chrons about a year ago. currently, i am on prednisone, remicade, 6mp and pentasa. i just embarked on the SCD Diet about 2 weeks ago. All of my tests including a barium contrast as well as many blood tests for inflammatory markers were negative for any inflmmation. i am not experiencing any diarreah or blood but i am having about 3-4 BMs a day. the stool is never in one mass but usually broken up into long, skinny masses. i am wondering why this is happening if i am on medication and this extremely strict diet. i also experience a great deal of urgency when a BM occurs. i find that i will not be able to hold it for more than 2 minutes. once again there is very little or no D. please help thank you.

Hmm. Do you have a stricture maybe? That could explain the skinny BMs. And the pressure on the stricture can make you feel more urgency maybe.

I hope you can figure it out.

I have skinny poo sometimes too. Personally I've found it's not necessarily in conjunction with a flare. For me my body cycles through different types of pooing that doesn't have a huge deal to do with that's really going on inside me. But that's just me! Everybody with Crohn's has different symptoms and reactions to things.

I also have to say that being a teen with Crohn's really sucks! I was diagnosed when I was 8 and had huge troubles when I was 16. On top of everything else to deal with as a teen, adding in Crohn's is just not fair!

I don't know what the cause could be. I actually wonder about this myself. I, too, often have BM's like the ones you described - not D, but more loose, and long and thin. I also experience urgency a lot. I have explained this to my GI several times, but she doesn't seem concerned. I have had 2 flex sigs in the past few months that don't show anything of significance. However, I will be having a full colonoscopy in September to see if I can get some answers.
