So I've been on 9mg a day since October. I told my dr it helped a little but not enough after a month of taking, but he told me to continue taking, while trying other meds for IBS. Now my doc has refused to refill any of my medication, which currently are Tramadol for pain, Entocort and Amitriptaline. So now I've been off Entocort for a week and I feel so awful. I'm pretty sure I should have tapered a long time ago and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have just gone completely off it.

What do I do now? What is happening to my body now that I've been on it for so long and then taken off of it without warning or any tapering?

Needless to say I'm looking for a new GI, but don't know what to do in the mean time. Also, I'm undiagnosed, but had inconclusive pill cam and colonoscopy that showed signs of CD in my TI, but doc refused to prescribe anything stronger than entocort without more evidence.

Ideas? I really have no idea what to do. My d is back, my pain has increased and I am having trouble dealing with all of this!

That's ridiculous that he didn't taper you off. That's very dangerous. I have been on entocort 3 weeks and need to taper and you have been on for months.

The only time I was on Budesonide I was not tapered off, but I wasmoved from it to prednisone. Taper of Budesonide is necessary when you are not going to another steroid.

My GI told me I didnt need to taper from Budesonide because it was not systemic like prednisone. I stopped the Sunday before my first Remicade infusion. The only side affect
I had- the pain and diarrhea picked up. On the other hand I had to start the Remicade
because I didnt get "kicked" into remission.

tots is correct that a taper off Entocort isn't required because it does not affect you the same way Prednisone does. I've always stopped it cold turkey and never had a problem (been on it a few times, 3 months being the shortest amount of time and the longest was about a year). It would affect you a lot quicker than a week if you needed to be tapered off of it. Its more likely that the Entocort may have been helping some and not taking it at all is allowing all of your symptoms to come back.

Hope you find a new GI soon.
