Not had a colonoscopy for 10 years and I'm finally having one day after next. Need to take 4 senna tonight and 2 x lots of moviprep tomorrow.

And the fun begins.... :poo:

Have you had the colonoscopy yet? If so, I hope it went well. Sorry this answer might come a bit late, but I drank orange squash - I think this is the same as cordial depending on which part of the world you're in?!

Hi, thanks for your response. I had it this morning... Very uncomfortable but didn't have sedation so I should have expected it!!! It was quite painful around some 'bends' towards the top but think that might have been the air pressure, not sure...

The orange worked really well! Glad I used it really as the moviprep was bad! I ended up using 3/4 of a whole bottle! Definitely recommend it. I'm in uk so I guess squash is another word I would use!

I was just thinking about that a few hours ago... Here's me thinking it's all over but as I was eating I thought... Bet this is going to go right through me! It took about 2 hours, so a lot slower than yesterday when I had the prep!

I'm guessing tomorrow would be back to normal, do you know?

I remember thinking that I would have a mac donalds after my colonoscopy but once I had it done, I feel like I don't want to rubbish my insides after this 'detox!'. I'm sure it won't last though!

Oh okay... ;). Will leave out the choc muffin I was going to to have for dessert then too!!!

Fresh veg and chicken for tea it is :)

It usually takes me about 2 to 3 days to get back to normal - or at least it did when I still had a colon.

I reckon you deserve a MacDonald's after that. ;) I feel nauseous after tests and don't want to eat - but the nurses always try and force biscuits down me before they let me leave. My mum said that after her colonoscopy she was so hungry she couldn't wait until she got home and went straight to the hospital shop to buy a Mars Bar. Guess we all react differently!

I did enjoy the tea and biscuits afterwards.

For some reason today I'm feeling rather low, can't stop thinking about the procedure.. Almost violated if that makes sense! I know it's something I needed to do as I not had one for 10 years but it's horrible feeling and so invasive. I wonder if I'm alone on this one?

Sorry I'm late coming in on this. You aren't alone with that feeling. I remember before my procedure that was all I could think about. You know in your head that the doctor has seen it all before and they don't see you in any way except professional, but it's still very intimate and you are in a vulnerable position.

Don't worry you aren't alone with this, it's a very natural feeling. *Hugs* you're welcome to inbox me if you'd like to chat.

Before I had it done I think I was all positive... With a let's just get it out the way attitude.

Then the focus afterwards was oh good glad it's over, let's eat...

Now I I also feel post traumatic!
