heres my story

hello people, heres my story
so I was searching for info and came upon this site, I just signed up so I hope Im doing this right lol.. Im a mother of 2 lovely girls & my (oldest)13yr old daughter was just diagnosed w/ chrohns in Dec 2010 & it worries me most of the time. I dont personally kno anyone else w/ this disease so family & friends feel bad but really cant relate to me. Im interested to see what other parents & their children go thru w/ chrohns disease..

Hi vness and :welcome:

I'm sorry you had to find your way here...:( but it is a great place for support an info. In case you haven't found it we have a Parent's forum here.

My daughter was diagnosed at 14 after going undiagnosed for 18 months. It is so hard to watch our children go through this and not be able to take away the hurt and suffering. You are not alone hun and you will find many supportive and friendly parents here that know exactly what you are going through, the constant worry, the pain, the fear, the uncertainty, the good times and the bad times...

Where is your daughter's Crohns located? Is she taking medication?

I hope things are going well for daughter, good luck and welcome aboard!

Much love, :Karl:

Hello Vness and welcome to the Crohn's Forum!

It must be so very difficult to have a child diagnosed with this disease.
But you have come to the right place for information and support.

As DustyKat pointed out we do have a forum for parents who have
children who have been diagnosed with Crohn's.

Make yourself at home...
Best wishes to you and your daughter.

Hugs~Nancy

thank you ladies, I also wish the best to y'all. dustykat Im embarassed to say Im not sure where my daughters chrones is located because honestly I thought everyone had it in the same location but Ill have to look into my box full of hospital papers.. she was recently taken off of prednisone and now she only takes the flagyl and 6mp. she was doing very well since diagnosed but now theres a new issue because her bloodwork came back abnormal and now drs are telling me they think she has a liver disease and have to get some diff type of mri and maybe liver biopsy.. I always ask lots of questions but somehow Im still confused.. I cant believe theres so much more info I need to learn..

Im sorry to hear of your daughter. Don't worry about not knowing all about Crohns and your daughters diagnosis. I wasn't sure after my son's diagnosis and even after going in to the follow up apptmnt with a page full of questions, I can't believe I still came out not knowing exactly where his is located. There's a lot to learn and it's so hard as a parent to accept and deal with a child's diagnosis. You'll find lots of people here who are very knowledgeable and will help you.

I hope you get some answers quickly about the liver concerns!

thanks so much I really appreciate it & Im glad u understand.. I just read ur story & I really hope everything works out for u and your family. I am new to this site and Ive realized that I need to handle this issue better & not get so emotional reading everyones story, I have to learn from it, be more positive & not tear up everytime somone mentions chrohns disease around me.. I think this website might be a good thing :)

Hi Vness and welcome :)

Don't worry about not knowing everything already...some of us have been dealing with CD for many, many years and are still learning and asking lots of questions. I think you will find though, the more you learn the more calm you may feel.
I hope you're already finding a wealth of information through the great stories of others on here. I'm sorry tho that your daughter was diagnosed and you had to come here at all. Your with a great bunch of friends now tho, so try and breath!

Best of luck to you!
Any questions please just ask away!

Hey Hun,

So sorry to hear about the bloods...:( It is possible to have liver problems associated with Crohns, Dexky's son does, and you can also have issues with the liver due to medication, 6mp is a medication that can cause abnormal liver function tests.

As the others have said, please don't be embarrassed by not knowing. I have been dealing with this for 5 years now and at the beginning I knew bugger all!

I know it's hard but...deep breaths Mum, you are doing a fab job!

:hang:

hello everyone,
still dont know what im doing, been trying to get to this page all day lol but I really would like to thank everyone for the support and for sharing your stories and making me feel a little at ease.. well, I just heard from the doctors and my daughter is scheduled for a mrcp next tues and after this procedure we will schedule for a liver biopsy. I am super nervous of what the results might be.. she is doing well right now but doctors said alot of times these liver disease can have no symptoms for a while. Im hoping everything turns out negative but I still want answers about why her blood tests keep coming out abnormal if she doesnt have liver disease.. I guess we'll just have to wait and see..
