Hi :) I'm a newbie, thought I'd introduce myself! I'm 22, female, living in Oxford UK, and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when I was 15.

I've had a super-fun time with a load of different medications and treatments, *dreaded* pred in big doses :/ azathioprine (injections then oral), methotrexate, ng tube, infliximab, adulimumab, none of which worked. So in the summer of 2009 I had an open intestinal resection surgery (2 sections), which was HORRIBLE, but it made me better!

Apart from some weekly methotrexate, I was pretty much in med-free remission for the next few years (which was pretty convenient, time wise, as I started university September of '09 and graduated this June!)

Unfortunately, it's come back, it started flaring in about April, and has got worse and worse since, and after upping my methotrexate and starting on budesonide in August (which, OH SO SURPRISINGLY, given my drugs record, hasn't worked) I'm having to have another resection in November :(

I've had to go on long term sick from my lovely new graduate job, due to being so ill, and yeah, Crohn's can get pretty lonely, (despite wonderful friends, family and housemates that I know I'm lucky to have!) and I remembered I used to go on a forum for teens with Crohn's/UC back when I was first diagnosed, but couldn't find it again, so thought I'd find a new place to talk to a bunch of ill people about diarrhea and steroids

Sorry if that's long and boring, thought I'd come and say hello!

This has been a very helpful and informative forum for me. I hope your procedure goes well for you next month. Welcome to the forum. :rosette1:

Im so sorry to hear it has come back and you are flared! I was doing pretty good up until July, then it all hit me hard. It's so annoying. Why does it come back and interrupt our lives?? We will get through it! I'm sorry you have to have another surgery. Fortunately I have not had to have surgery. Knock on wood :) I just started cimzia and a low dosage of prednisone has helped me. I should be done with this round of steroids by next week! Woo hoo. I hate steroids. I hate feeling puffy, shaky and achy all the time. I will be praying for you! Keep us posted.

Well if you wanted a place to talk to a bunch of ill people about diarrhea and steroids... You're in the right place!

Welcome :)

Hi, Sorry you are having such a rough time. I'm in a sort of similar boat. I'm 22 also and got diagnosed this year and so far Pred and Aza haven't worked so going to see my GI today to talk about trying remicade. But missing so much of Uni going to make a decision today about taking a year of absence from Uni, which I really didn't want to do.

Good luck, I hope you feel better soon :)

Hey there SB and welcome :(
