My story....
I'd like to share my story with you from the beginning. So got a few minutes?
Here it is.......
I was finally diagnosed on March 11, 2005.
7 weeks prior to being admitted I was so sick. Went to my family doctor a few times and the ER once. I was given all kinds of antibiotic and they didn't work. Back track here......I'm stubborn and don't like to go to the doctors or the hospital so that's why I waited so long but when my heart started to do some funky things and I couldn't stop throwing up, living in the bathroom and sleeping on the floor thru out all this time, I finally made a last visit to my family doc, walked into his office went straight to the bathroom and as soon as he saw me he told me to stick out my tongue. So I did and he said you are going straight to the hospital and he called and arranged it. My husband took me straight there and we were in the ER for a long time. I had a CT scan of my entire abdominal area and a colonoscopy in the same night. Not fun! I was near death. Very low pottasium, very dehydrated and in so much pain I couldn't stand it. They started IV's and pumpin all kinds of steroids and other medications that I don't even remember but I was in the hospital for 11 days.
There were so many doctors in and out of my room poking me and stuff. Right away they wanted to do surgery and remove my insides!!! I just looked at them when they told me this and I was like "What, Noway!" I need it!!! Duh!!! So they said I could try all the medications and see how things go and so far I'm better instead of worse, well except when I didn't have the remicade. Next colonoscopy should be interesting. But my gastrologist wants to stop the remicade and try some other way of treating me! Brakes!!! I've tried so many different med's that I couldn't take cause of reactions. I am lucky not to have a reaction from remicade. Only itching!! But that went away.
So first colonscopy showed crohn's colitis with granuloumas. Still not quite sure what the granulomaous (spelling) is but still working on that one! I lost 40 lbs. and couldn't even do nothing! Terrible time. 7 days after I had a second colonoscopy, no improvement yet! They kept a toilet thingy next to my bed cause I couldn't make it to the bathroom. Hated that! Very embarrassing. Anywho.....I was given the first remicade infusion the day before I left the hospital along with continuence of steroids and all the other meds they had me on. Long list.
I had a third colonoscopy and things started to quiet down. Now I'm due to have a 4th but this one is to see where I'm at with all this after everything. WEll after the long journey of gettin this under control. It's coming up around January of this year. Dread the drink yanno!
Well, that's about it in a nutshell.
And that's all I got to say about that.............
