Hi I'm 37 and I was diagnosed with Crohns over 10 years ago now. I have been on Asacol and anti-spasmodics on and off since then.I have had a few endoscopies too. I had a really bad flare up after the birth of my first child where I had steriods for a few months, the only time I felt great with no symptoms was while i was preganant ! I recently had a bad flare up where tried taking immodium with no effect , infact i'm sure it made it worse , and had to give in and take time off work because i couldn't leave the house in the end . my doctor prescribed me steriod enemas ( which came with a pair of gloves and a funnel !!!a scary sight when i opened the box!! ) which I didn't take ( too scared). my mum actually asked me if my husband would be helping me to do them ... yeah right !!! Eventually it calmed down , by me not eating much just in time for my holiday camping in Dorset , or so i thought. The 5 hour drive to dorset actually took 7.5 hrs , stopping at most of the toilets on the motorway. But i can laugh about it now , but i really don't know how i did it . Anyway, thats me, Crohns is horrible , but you can't let it rule your life ( although sometimes you feel as though it does), and you have to keep your sense of humour going!
