Hello Everyone ,
Just thought i'd introduce myself ... Im Laura and I am 19 .
I was diagnosed with crohns 3 years ago in the middle of my g.c.s.e exams at school ...what a great time that was ! .. I still managed to pass them all somehow with a great lack of revision due to tiredness , you all know how it is!
Anyway , I am determined not to let this disease stop me living my life & so far so good with this plan , I have climbed a mount Kenya , in Africa ( against my GI's advise obviously :thumleft: ) and if anything crohns helped me get up there , I know Im strong enough to do anything i want & lets just say , the pain barrier of climbing a mountain , is nothing in comparison to that of having crohns !!!
I love ballroom and latin dance & if anything has helped me get through this disease , dancing is the thing ! ....infact , up until last year , no one at dancing of knew about my crohns ( acting skills may have been involved ) ...i had to tell them last year when going on a trip away to Blackpool , as the food situation at the hotel was going to be some what of an issue ! They couldnt believe that I had managed to 'hide' it from them all for so long , since i spent quite alot of time there each week , however I hadnt had the need to tell them & it was my place to escape the whole thing
They have all been so supportive & my teacher has even taken to 'mothering' me when we are away ( annoying at points , but its lovely to know she cares that much to try and make sure i get something to eat ! )
What has helped everyone else through the rough times ?
Im looking forward to getting to know all of the lovely people on this forum
Please feel free to say hi & share your thoughts with me !!!
