Hello all,
Just wanted to share my current situation.
My husband of 42 years (he is 67) had bypass surgery 11 days ago. He is doing very well now and I thank The Lord for that. He is now home. His surgery was performed at a hospital that is a one hour drive away. Because of my Crohn's I normally do not normally drive that far but I did everyday while he was there (6 days). I really don't know how I did it but I did know I would pay.
The bleeding, pain, accidents and frequent urgent bowel movements has started up which is minor compared to flares in the past when I would fill the bowl with bright red blood up to 20 times a day. Praying that I am not headed there. I had to cancel a colonoscopy during this period. Kind of scary because I am at a high risk of colon cancer.
Many individuals have offered their help but as usual words are just that. Why do people offer then look at you like you are a bitch if you actually do ask for help?
Now that I am going downhill everyone's lack of understanding of Crohn's means that I look like a drama queen. I had been doing well, not totally in remission, but well enough to cook, create some art (sitting down) and do light housework. Now I am so weak that I can barely stand up. If I push at this stage I know I will end up back in the hospital and how does that help anyone? It will be weeks before Hubby can even drive and I certainly don't want him doing anything but concentrating on his recovery. If I try to explain Crohn's to family or friends, it sounds like a "sympathy card".
You might think I should hire help but my husband is totally opposed.
