While taking sons bloods on Tuesday the needle hit a nerve and sent a pain down my sons arm to his finger tips and he now says there is a feeling of pins and needles now and again in his fingers! Has this happened to anyone and will it go away in time? Im a bit peeved off really as they have been using a big needle rather than a butterfly and im hoping now he wont be put off as he does his own injections now of mxt and after that happening witht the bloods it left him upset. xx

By the sound of it he had blood drawn from the elbow area?

The ulnar nerve runs through that area and can cause pins and needles in the hand when traumatised. Being an intermittent problem I would think that it won’t be permanent and should resolve once the irritation settles.

It hasn’t happened to us before dodie and I hope your lad is okay, bless him. As if bloods aren’t traumatic enough without that!
I think you now have every right to demand the butterfly in future!

Sending loads of luck and healing thoughts your way.

Dusty. xxx

I was once stabbed in the arm with a pen knife ( long story  )
It felt funny for quite a while, I am sure a nerve was involved, then one day I realised I hadn't noticed it for a bit and it must have fixed itself - healed or rewired.
Hope it works out that way for your little guy too.

I had that happen to me once. I think it took about a week for the pins and needles to go. Hope he is okay.

Not sure if this is the same at all, but the dentist hit a nerve once when injecting the anesthesia in my mouth. I lost all feeling and tasting ability on one side of my tongue for about 2 months, then it slowly came back. I think nerves generally regenerate without problem if the trauma wasn't too serious.
