So i am back to changing up my routine in the gym. After going into a flare in November and hitting a peak for my WBC of about 17.4 (highest i have ever experienced since being diagnosed) i decided that it was time to change up my workout routine in the hopes of running down/shocking my immune system, and so far so good, combination of Prednssone and High Intensity Weight Training has seen me go from 228lbs to 237lbs from Feb 1st to Feb 20th, so i am averageing about 1/2 lb a day. Have put on decent gains in size (a little strength too) but more importantly my WBC has started to plummet and i feel much better again. I am currently eating about 4700-5000 calories a day in order to gain the weight, am going to bring myself to 245lbs before starting a cardio regime to get more toned for the summer time. I am hoping to get off the Prednisone by the end of march and return to just taking 250mg of Imuran a day to control my remission.

On a side note i had to start eating a couple bananas a day as my January blood tests showed extremely low potassium levels, which explained the muscle spasms i was getting...once the bananas started going in the muscle spasms left....i also found that when my crohns was active the extra potassium seemed to control the transit time of my bowels too. Hopefully that key element will help other ppl, it surely helped me.

I had to add potassium supplements in (not a big banana fan) cause I was getting muscle spasms. Are you making sure to take a high dose of calcium while on the prednisone since it causes bone density loss? Glad to hear exercise is helping you out, I need to start getting myself into the gym more cause with the prednisone I can't stop eating it seems or I start to ache if I don't snack every 1-2 hours.

Oh, definit on the calcium supplements, plus i drink about 5-6 cups of milk a day, so i am maxing out on calcium very well, thats a big reason why i train hard though is to keep my bone density nice and high. I think its vital for anyone on Prednisone to work out if its physically possible for them
