Holy crap there's a ton of snow coming down on the east coast. So far we have about 15 inches. At first we were expecting 8-12 inches. Then they changed it to 15-20 inches. Now they are saying upwards of 30 inches or more. I'm in the Frederick area of Maryland. How's the weather where you are?? Anyone else expecting that much snow?

At least it'll be a white Christmas!

OMG! You are kidding me! We just got into New York City (Brooklyn) last night - after getting caught in the typical hellacious traffic right before the city. It just started snowing here about 30 minutes ago - but they are saying I think that we should get 8-14" before this time tomorrow! Then of course we have to drive back kinda through your area on the way back to DC for the day on Tuesday - and then back home to NC. I'm hoping we don't get stuck on the roads! Thank god we are staying at someone's house and not a hotel.

Do they handle snow well on the roads in your area Mike?

54 degrees here...A white Christmas would be awesome....Before I die I would love to experience one!!!

You need to move that up on your bucket list Pop!! Definitely a planned event for you with where you live. Maybe you could call in a snow making machine ;O)

Well just in the DC/ Baltimore area they have over a thousand snow plows running non-stop to clear the roads. I was out shoveling the walk and was out there maybe an hour. Its snowed an easy inch or two. So I would hope so. :D

I am in NY and if it just started snowing in Brooklyn it should be hitting here soon in Bayville. It is just a light flurry where you can hardly see the snow now.

I got misinformation -I think we are only supposed to get 2-4 in Brooklyn - but DC (where we WERE going for a day LOL) is supposed to be getting historical snow - like 2 feet. I hope that is gone by Tuesday morning......

Probably only have a quarter of an inch so far JJ - just light flurries.

I know I am just staying in today anyway. Even if it were a nice day I have nothing to do!! But I feel bad that you were not able to take your pics in the city today Peaches :(

Well- hubby's cousins dragged me to Fairway to get groceries (what WAS I thinking - it was a zoo!) and I took a few pictures while I was out but nothing spectacular as it is pretty dreary out. Looks like we are back to the 10-14" theory - will have to see what tomorrow brings.

Sounds like we're only due a couple inches total, but our daughter was able to go out today and make a couple little baby snowmen with mommy while I did some shopping. The baking aisle at WalMart was like hanging out in Hell for a while.

My son just came home from S. Carolina where had been working for a week and they were stuck in a blizzard for 22 hrs. Now I don't remember what state they came to a stand still on the xpressway. Said him and 2 other of the guys walked up the xpressway helping push vehicles out and getting others to drive around the semis that just stopped in the middle of the road. Said it was the worse storm he's been in. Not bad coming from a michigander.
My daughter-in-law was here helping Janis make Christmas candy. Mike had called and said they were still working so he wasn't sure what day he would be home. She was bumming until a half hour later he pulled into the driveway. Priceless.

Don't bet on it. It'll be a white Christmas here for sure.

BWI, Reagan, and Dulles have so many flights cancelled. I think I heard thousands.

hmmm I guess its going to hit here sooner or later! They keep on saying snow snow and more snow and a lot of my family and friends at different areas of Long Island say that they have different amounts depending on where they are. But near me....still just a slight dusting of snow on the ground. I feel like I am going to wake up tommorow to tons of snow!

I live farther North than all you guys and we only have 3 inches, or less lol. But.... we beat you on the cold temperature, we finally got out of a cold snap and was -25F and that is cold, but will get much colder. Today was a balmy 15F lol.

Gosh! Us Brits are such lightweights! We had about 6 inches and it brings us to our k knees! schools closed, accidents everywhere... My hubby is a paramedic and tonight he has already been out to 16 peoe and not even half through his shift... Everyone is falling over, crashing their cars or generally being lame coz they want to see a doc but won't brave driving to the hospital!

Oh my Penny - I'm glad I don't live up there - that is soooo cold!!! Burr - just makes me cold thinking about it!

Pirate - wow! See- I'm hoping to avoid such craziness coming back to NC on Tuesday - I'm hoping for a heatwave to melt everything for the ride home LOL!

JJ - still not much here in Brooklyn - but like you - I'm starting to wonder if we are going to be able to get out at all tomorrow. I feel the need...the need for hot chocolate and a warm fire!!

Thank God we drove Mike - I'd be pretty miffed if I was stuck at an airport right now!

Yeah it is cold but, it is a dry cold, not damp. When the temperature got milder it was damp and I sat more often near the airtight stove. Closer to the lake the colder and more damp because it is open. Here we are always -4 degrees colder but sheltered around trees and dryer air.

Oh wow Jettalady that does sound too cold...just thinking about it makes me want to do like Peaches and make some hot chocolate.. mmmm :)

16 inches in Philly so far, and it's supposed to snow all night and well into tomorrow...

It's snowing a lot now in B R O O K L Y N!

Get ready, Peaches. They better have lots of coffee for us tomorrow!

GEEEZus you got that right! How the heck are you getting there Fen? Please tell me I'm not walkin' in this mess? Thank God I stopped at Wally World on the way up and bought some real snow boots! Ho ho ho.......

Yeah its still coming here. Not nearly as hard as earlier. So far at last count, about 28 inches

I'm a bit jealous! We get snow (that actually settles) at my place usually about 2x a year and maybe only a few inches. As Lishy said in England, here everything comes to a standstill because we aren't used to it. I love it because we get to stay home and it makes everything sound different -anyone else notice that?

Sadly it is summer here and there are reports of snow coming in higher areas of the country - who knows, we may get a white xmas too - the weather this summer is poo, blowing a gale and pissing down, all in winder coats :(

In Bama we've got nothing. It's just a cold dreary day. If it's going to be cold why can't it snow just a little. I always love the first snowfall but after that I'm sick of it or at least that's how I was in Connecticut when I had to walk a half mile through the snow every day during winter to get home. ):

It usually snows quite a bit here. Got a good dump the other day....about 3 or 4 inches in 3 or 4 hours and then its rained for the last week..... we only had like 4 days last month where it didnt rain or snow...Anyways we are possibly expecting some for Christmas weekend they are saying now. Our weather sucks though, some of the most unpredictable anywhere in the world. Sucks though cause its even raining on our amazing mountains right now and I have a season's pass!!!! :mad2: and olympics coming soon :):):) Anyways we are expecting it, god only knows when we will actually get it though. I hope for a semi white Christmas, all my family comes to my house so I don't have to worry about leaving :) but my family drives a couple hours to get here so I want them to show up too.

You are so right with the making everything sound different thing, its almost like everyone is so not used to it they walk in silence and then when you do make a noise it kinda echoes. I LOVE IT! :D

Got snow in Manchester, UK this morning... about 1 inch (haha!:ybatty: ) but I'm waiting for the update from the chap over in Manhattan, NY I'm thinking more than an inch has fallen there!

What do a piece of stool of seemingly average length coming out throughout 4 hours and then 7 days of rain have in common? Ask CrazyCanuck!!! :D lol, sorry, it was there for me...

Get this: I was told by my fiance (and heard it on the radio) that some day back in the early fall was a "special" at the jewelry store where I bought the engagement ring. If it snows more than 6 inches on Christmas Day (has to come down that day) you get any jewelry bought back on THAT SPECIFIC day FREE!!! You would be reimbursed 100%!!!

I don't know weather to laugh or cry, but with my luck, it would be 70 degrees on Christmas had I bought that ring that early. But heck, she couldn't even make up her mind that early (neither could I), and at that time, it was still to be a secret, so there's very little that would have made that work out anyways....Now, I'm waiting to see the closer predictions for our Christmas Eve here...if it's more than 6 inches worth, I'm going to explode. :voodoo:

I have nothing just a enough to cover the yellow spots lol. Down where I used to live they got 3ft and the next day another foot! 4Ft of snow and of course a state of emergency. I dont live in the city and we have all the toys to get rid of it and we hardly get it. Too cold to snow...

I was thinking the exact same thing!! How funny?

Wow I saw some you are getting whalloped in the PA, NY, areas, up to 75cm or 30 inches or almost 3 feet!!!!Omg, even we as Northern Canadians dont get the much very often! I hope you guys make out ok! Dont go out on the roads...

Never in my life hav i seen snow

doesn't snow here at all unless ya travel toobte mountains interstate
but here where I am nope

sounds nice for a visit type thing but doubt I'd LIKE it all time lol

I love all the four seasons, and dont mind snow, better than rain. When you are born with this kinda weather it is easy to get used to. Where they are getting snow in the states they are not equipped to get that much. However we have 3 more months to wait for Golfing! The count down is on LOL.

The internet and the news said that it was going to snow here on long island New York. I see nothing, not even a snow flake coming down. I wonder if all those people who went to the supermarket yesterday and cleared out most of the shelves of food and waiting on those long lines like there was going to be apocalyptic event feel silly!! Who knows maybe it will still start to snow. I was hoping for it to snow so that I may have a good excuse not to leave the house today :D

Snowing pretty hard where I am here in NC - we just melted most of everything off from last week's event. I always think the supermarkets must LOVE when we have alerts like this JJ - people go NUTS. I didn't even go to the market this week. Hope I'm not going to regret it......

I just watched the weather update again and they said that it should start soon!? I am waiting they are saying now only 3-6 inches for Long Island New York. Not bad, but I will still stay in!! I passed by the supermarket yesterday and the parking lot was full and people were waiting for spots to park. Would these people starve if they are stuck in the house for one or two days!!?? It just seems crazy that during a normal week the food on the shelves are almost full and right before a snow storm there is not even a loaf of bread left or milk.

Seriously? I am a few hundred miles North of you guys and there is bare ground showing through all over the place. Was at a dog sled race today and they had to scape up snow from along the sides of the trail to fill in all the bare patches! We held the Weight pull event for dogs on snow they dumped out from the Zamboni at the Arena because there was not enough for the dogs to pull on.

But hey it beats having to shovel the stuff! :p

Its ok Kenny I am not far from them I am in New York and there is nothing here either! It was a waiting game then nothing came!
