Hey there! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm hoping to get a bit of advice from the wonderful people here.
I've suffered from UC since early 2012. I went on Remicade in early 2013 and haven't had symptoms since; I'm still on it.
I'm applying to a police force here in North America. Passed all the steps except the last, the medical. They denied my application because they said Remicade, being an immunosuppressant, makes you more susceptible to diseases that a front-line cop could experience.
They want me to go off all biological meds for 2 years, with no symptoms, and then re-apply. I'm trying to appeal it because I know there are cops out there who take Remicade or Humira. Currently work in a hospital, almost 2 yrs; I think I'd have caught something by now if it were so bad.
Hoping to hear from you current police or military what meds you're on, and if you were diagnosed before you got in, how you got in.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider! God bless.
