Hormones and flare up!

Hi,

Since April I have had very mild mucus and bleeding at certain times of the month every month, since I am 46 now my periods are earlier and the cramping worse and have heard that the perimenopause can cause IBD to flare up. I take Octasa 3 x a day but bleeding only stops when I use my predisolone enemas, but then flares again. It's so frustrating. Doctor has asked me to keep a diary. Any other women have this problem?

My symptoms definitely flare when my hormones change! I never thought a doctor would take me seriously about it so I haven't ever said much to my doctor, but I don't think I'll ever reach full remission while I'm still ovulating. I'm taking pentasa 4x daily, and also on Imuran starting this week. Is there anything that you have noticed that helps other than the steroid enemas?

I see my daughters U.C. flare during that time of the month as well. She is currently seeing a naturalpath and she may have something that can help with that. I can let you know.

Hope345, please do let us know if your naturalpath has any advice for you we don't have access to anyone like that on my area, but it would sure be nice if we did!

I'm going to be watching what I eat and see if there are any changes. Having blood tests done today to see if any thing else is causing it.
