I'm having my first flare up according to the doctor and will be seeing my specialist soon. All day every day my stomach is uncomfortable and I'm repeatedly getting mildly painful spasms, followed by the most unpleasant gurgling you've ever heard. It's not normal, its like water swirling around and I'm pretty sure its worse when I lie on my side. It's weird because I eat the right things, and not too much. peppermint tea doesn't do much. Will this improve with more water intake? If so, how many glasses should you have a day?

What you are experiencing is very normal for crohn's. My stomach gurgles all day, every day. Sometimes subtle and sometimes like an angry lion lol. I was really embarrassed about it at first but I think I'm starting to get used to it a bit more. Might as well since it's not going anywhere.

Peppermint tea isn't always strong enough for me. I use ginger tea instead either in tea bag form or boil my own ginger with water and some honey in a pot. That helps a bit more and reduces if not eliminates the gurgling temporarily.

Unfortunately I'm learning each person is different and what works for one may not work for someone else (or even yourself after a while). It's an exhausting process trying to get this under control.

I wish I had more answers for you. The only thing I could recommend is to be mindful of what you are eating. You may notice that some foods cause more discomfort than others.

Wishing you better health very soon!

I have the loud gurgling as well. It's become a joke in my house. I found that water doesn't make any difference but laying on my right side seems to help ( I don't know why). I think you are supposed to drink like 10 8 oz glasses a day but if you are having to go to the bathroom a lot then you need to make sure you are drinking more so you don't get dehydrated and make things a lot worse for you. I would talk with your doctor too because if you are on maintenance drugs they should be helping with gurgling and pain. I hope things get better for you!

when you are saying you are eating all the right things what do you mean by that - right things in general can sometimes affect us crohnies :(
i too get the gurgling when i am in a flare - lying on my left side sometimes help but mostly i sleep on my stomach for some odd reason i find it more comfortable. Are you getting anything from the pain, that is terrible that you can't even walk around.
