How do you describe the joint pain that you have related to Crohn's? My joint pain is usually in my fingers. With the most recent flare, it seems to be localized to my left hand, especially in the first finger. A relatively small joint, but it hurts so bad! I also sometimes have pain in my big toe joint. The joint pain in my fingers has come and gone over the years dating back to my teenage years, long before I had any GI symptoms. It is sometimes accompanied by swelling. I'm just wondering if this is typical for others with Crohn's.

My joint pain has been bad for about 8 weeks now. They actually took me off the humira thinking it might ba a cause. I feel it in my hands, wrists, elbows, hips, a couple toes and ankles. It kind of roams around. Too me it feels like there is something in the joints although I saw a rheumatologistand he assured me that there is not.

There is generally no visible swelling for me. They put me on 10 mg pred and it has helped quite a bit.

I have Osteoarthritis and I think its just about everywhere honestly (spine, hips, fingers, wrists, toes have all been confirmed yet I think its in my knees too as they've been hurting just the same). I'm only 30 and I've got old people arthritis (probably had it sooner but haven't had x-rays there in a while). Its hard for me to walk sometimes because it feels like the joint is just going to cave under my weight so I'm limping around sometimes. I've never had visible swelling in my joints though. An x-ray will show if you have arthritis or not and may show what kind as well. The pain I get in my hands and wrists is similar to where it seems almost impossible to use that hand until the pain goes away (also tends to throb).

Would be best if you got a referral to a Rheumatoid specialist so they can check you for RA and treat any other possible arthritis symptoms (and run tests to find out which kind you actually have, your GP can also do this but chances are you'll see a Rheumy anyway).

My Rheumy put me on Humira to treat both the Crohn's and the arthritis (still waiting on my results for RA but they'd just put me on Humira for that anyway) and took me off the 6MP since it was starting to affect my liver.

On steroids my joint pain is like transient shooting pains but off steroids it's more of a mechanical pain and they feel very stif....I had some swelling last year in my left elbow, and right knee and ankle, still not sure if it was a humira/azathioprine reaction or a sign of impending flare!

Had joint pains for 18 months on and off, they're not sure if crohns or the infliximab. Usually it's in my fingers, the balls of my feet, but can be anywhere - elbows, wrists, knees, back, even the tip of my nose etc

For the longest time before I was diagnosed, my doctor thought I had stress fracture(s) on my lower back, always having hip and back pain.

osteoarthritis and osteopinia, pain in hips shoulders and knees when I get tired

I get really bad joint pain in my fingers and wrists. I used to do hair, and now I type a lot. I saw a rhuematologist, and he said it might it be "Crohn's arthritis", but I haven't seen me Gastro since then. I feel like it's sharp and stabby. I also had Prepetellar bursitus. I don't know if this is related to the Crohn's. I'm a 24yr old girl, and I don't know why I would have that...

B-Pro, Have you been diagnosed with Crohn's? Joint pain is one of the extra-intestinal symptoms of Crohn's, but I can't tell from your post if you have been diagnosed with IBD or not. There are many, many other causes of joint pain. If I hadn't seen so many incompetent doctors myself, I would wonder why your rheumy didn't do more testing to rule out other causes...
