And can you have one with out having diarrhoea. About a month ago I have a sigmoidoscopy because my Dr found a fistula and the fact I could speed my whole day on the toilet. They tuck a few biopsies and found hyperaemia patch which they found was colitis but think it's more crohn's. I went the hospital the other week just to see a Doctor and get told I need a colonoscopy but could take a couple of months but if you get bad come back in and we will treat you right away. I am usually loose and on the toilet all day but lately I've been a bit mixed. I have noticed my cramps getting worse specially after food or going the toilet but lately I've been getting a lot more pain and worse in my abdominal mainly on the right but sometimes goes right a cross and up to my rips. I have also notice my back arms and knees have gone worse and I struggle to bend or lift anything. I have no appetite to the point if I do eat it makes it worse .Today I feel the worst I've felt since been like this as the pain is worse and even though I want to go the toilet and have tried a few times nothing comes out but I suppose the no food or drink isn't helping. So long story just to ask how do you know if your having a flair up and can you with out the diarrhea as I always thought that was part of it as like I said am usually on the toilet all day

Ps sorry if there any mistakes in this am typing this on a android tablet which the keyboard as a mind of its own

Yes, even though D is an oft reported symptom there are many that don't experience D. Joint pain and RLQ pain is common as well. You may want to make an urgent appt for the colonoscopy or report back to the doc that things have gotten worse.

Hi norky90. Fellow UK sufferer here. I agree with Clash, get straight in touch with your team. Do you not have Specialist IBD Nurses at your hospital? Ring their helpline or email them and let them know what is happening. They should ring you back the same day and you can talk through your symptoms. I don't have D all the time, but recently have had lots of pain and several emergency admissions. I have a stricture. I am not saying that will be your problem, but you need help. I am sure they can bring the colonoscopy forward. You have to make a bit of a fuss sometimes in this country for them to hear you.

I know from my own IBD nurses that they are good at seeing when someone really needs help. My advice would be to get them involved in your care as much as possible. Keep in regular touch with them and get them on your side. My nurses have been life savers. Your hospital website should have their contact details if you haven't ever been given it.

Hi thank you for the reply's
I rang them today but the Dr not in till tomorrow so they will ring me back tomorrow after they tell him and said I should have a appointment for this Thursday.

Well done that's great news. I expect you feel better just having done something about it. Hope all goes well. Fingers crossed for you. I am living on Modulen at the moment (nutritional drinks) to deal with a flare - you are not alone.

This is all still new to me as I have suffered with this for a few years but was always told it's IBS. For about a year now I have noticed its got a lot worse and seemed to moved up more to my stomach I even have a swelling on the bottom of my ribs just on the right that my Dr just said it's because of the IBS. I've also notice am a lot more stiffer from my neck to my knees and can't seem to stay awake
