How long does Crohn's take to grow back?

I just had my fourth surgery (third bowel resection) on 7/14/14. I ended up doing well and being discharged from the hospital (Cleveland Clinic) the following Sunday, 7/20/14.

I had to travel quite a ways to get home, 7hours as I live outside of Philadelphia.

I did great my first few days, but by the end of Tuesday, I had noticed my heartburn was becoming quite severe.

Wednesday, my heartburn was off the charts. I decided not to eat all morning because I already felt so sick. Later in the afternoon i decided that I would try eating apiece of toast. This backfired, and I ended up with a few bouts of vomiting, but it was just bile.yellow, and tasted like cleaning fluid, and there was a lot of it. Took something to help the nausea...slept that night and then projectile vomited the next morning.

My surgeon in Cleveland told me to go to the ER. Did a catscan which showed pockets of fluid. Initially the docs said it could be an infection or just normal post op fluid which will eventually be absorbed. Now they say it is the Crohn's. My surgeon removed all evidence and checked my entire digestive tract...she said no Crohn's. My white blood cell count is normal. I know I will never be Crohn's free but this sounds crazy.

Is it possible that I am Crohn's free - at least no evidence - and ten days letter have a recurrence which is resulting in such nausea and heartburn? I do not feel the pain I normally feel with a flare.

I'm considering elective resection in the hopes I get a few years of relief ( I only have a very small area of disease in my Small intestine ).
So I'm also wondering how long on average it takes for the disease to joyously return.

Unfortunately there is no set rule. Some people have it return in a year. I was in remission for 20 before it returned. I was not on meds during that time. I would keep up with maitinance meds post surgery.

Unfortunately there is no average but we always have the disease and it can rear it's ugly head without rhyme or reason. Some people manage slight flares that come on gradually but others have severe flares come on suddenly and require serious intervention.
