I am on day 4 of 30mg a day. I have to take for 2 weeks then taper down. When should I start to see my symptoms of loose stools improve? A my colonoscopy it said I had proctisis.

Hiya

I'm not sure, only from my own experience it was immediate. But I was on 80mg and tapered down over nearly a year.
Perhaps 30mg may be too low, and 2 weeks too short? If there's no improvement talk to the doc who prescribed it.
If diarrhea is your main symptom, have you tried to go low residue for a while? This always works for me.
good luck xx

What does low residue mean? All this is new to me.... I have suffering for years but never really had the courage to admit it :-(

My son saw a change immediately. Blood in stool stopped, appetite increased and energy level shot up.

His CRP and Sed rate were normal 6 days after starting prednisone.

Our G.I. said the effect is not usually that quick though. And my son suffers from constipation not D.

When my daughter took it the first time it worked within 2 days the second time it took about 10 days.

She started at 50mg.

I found it quite a gradual thing this time round. The last two times it was an instant feeling better. But this time my symptoms started to get better slowly after about 7-10 days, with the bleeding being the last symptom to go. I kept my dr up to date with all of this and she didn't seem to concerned. So I'm guessing it works differently for different people with different problems.

in my experience they pretty much started working straight away. i seen a big difference within the first week. if it wasnt for the weight gain and moon face side effects id ask to stay on them forever. they really do help :)
