How long does it take to get relief with Prednisone?

I was talking prednisone 20mg 2 weeks ago and got moved up to pred 40mg for a bad flare. A few days ago I dropped down to 35mg and everything flared up again so yesterday I went back up to 40mg and I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it will take for the my body to become used to the changed dose again? And when the discomfort and pain will go away? Any answers will help please! I'm miserable here ��

Sorry you're flaring.

You should let the doctor know what's going on. Prednisone usually works fairly fast.

I was on pred just after New Years in 2013. I was on 40mg and went from being bed ridden to shopping in about a week. It was a dramatic change, but that didn't last long and the severe side-effects kicked in.

With pred, it's very important to keep your doctor updated on what's going on.

Within a few days has been the general guideline for me. If things aren't better in 5 days on pred then there's something askew.
