I've now been on Humira for about 8 months, one pen every two weeks. Over that time I've noticed that quite often as I'm coming up to the last one or two days before my next injection is due, I get increasing symptoms of gut pain and unformed bowel movements. It seems to me that the dosage is only sufficient to last about 12 instead of 14 days. This has been a trend since I first started, right up to now.

Do other people have similar experience with Humira?
Thanks.

Gra,

I was originally on an injection every 14 days. My dosage was increased to every 10 days because the fistula would almost close and then re-open at 10 days.

So I think it varies person to person and one must find their balance point to maintain the optimum level of medicine.

Good Luck

yeah that^^^
DS started at the end of April
we saw an improvement after the shot for about 5-7 days then things went downhill.
He recently upped his dose to try and make the effects last longer.

I have notied I get about 10 - 12ish days. I am thankfull that it does help me, but it often make me wonder.... what would happen if I ever missed or was late taking a dose?
I am currently having some issues with getting my shipment to me for next week. So trying not to panic.. trying.
Woops!

I was just the same, symptoms 2-3 days before my 2 weekly dose. I then had mastoiditis and had to stop for 6 weeks and my symptoms became significantly worse... now on weekly humira for the last 5 weeks and it seems to be gradually doing the trick. Luvvly stuff.

Mike, thanks for the information and the good wishes. I talked to my GI about having more regular Humira shots, but he says Medicare (Australia) will only approve fortnightly shot (mean bustards!).

One consolation to me I guess is that lately I've noticed that I start feeling really good straight after each pen, usually in an hour or even minutes! It used to take a day of so, but my body seems to know how to handle it now.

Hi All, I've been on Humira for almost 9 months and have started to get symptoms at about 12 days and then after my injection they go away for the most part. My GP has suggested that I increase the methotrexate on week 2, i.e. 15 mg of MTX on Humira week an then 17.5 mg of MTX on the next week. Has anyone tried this?

Are you taking 6MP as well Gra?
It's meant to improve the efficacy of Humira.
I'm just about to start it for this reason - eek!
