I have been on prednisone for 2 1/2 years and I got osteoporosis and diabetes and I was wondering and scared, How long can someone be on this before they smoke there liver?
I think it depends on the person...some can't handle it right off the bat, and others can be on it off and on for years. I'd get bloodwork done if you're that worried about it and discuss other treatment options with your GI.
I was on varying levels of prednisone for a few years straight - didn't have any problems with my liver (knock on wood). Hopefully that will be the case for you as well. Definitely look into other treatments though if possible.
