My husband got his 3rd dose of remicade last Wednesday. He still has blood in his stools and goes 10-15 times(sometimes more) a day. He just got out of the hospital yesterday. He is in lots of pain daily and hardly eats or drinks.

I am on Remicade to treat mainly a fistula and peri-anal issues.

It took 5 doses before I felt a difference in my symptoms. Now the fistula is closed and not bothering me, fissures healed, etc.

So I was about ready to give up since I do read a lot of people have instant relief.

I hope that your husband finds relief soon.

Some people it works right away while others it take a lot more doses.

My experience is that it takes more than three to start to feel better. 4 or 5 at least.

Hang in there!

Wow I don't know if he can wait 8-16 more weeks to see progress he is so sick. -68 pounds and not doing any better.

My GI said if it's not working after the 3 loading doses, it's not going to work. It worked within 3 days of the first dose for me, but only made me about 80% better. I haven't improved beyond that and I've had 4 doses now. Still going 5-10 times/day and having mild-moderate pain daily.

lets try that again!!

Cari,

I am on Remicade, like your husband I was in the hospital, for a week with a major flair, fistulas the works. It took me about three doses or more to start to firm up. I would suggest looking into the SCD diet, I have been on that for about two years and was doing great, until I had a colonoscopy. Sent me into the hospital with my first true flair. Had I known I never would have had one. The weight loss is the hardest thing, I lost 50lbs on the SCD diet and haven't felt this good since I was a teenage. Hang in their the remi should work, if not that then Humara might do the trick.
