How quick does entocort work?

It can really vary. But just to warn you it took exactly a month for me to feel the benefit. But when it did work it was great. I kept wondering if I should phone my GI to double check if I should be on it as it sawn doing anything but I'm glad I stuck with it.
When I spoke to my GI about it he seemed to think it was pretty normal and after 6 weeks on it I had to taper to 6mg
Good luck with it. I hope it helps and works quickly!

It can vary from person to person. By the third day or so, I noticed a difference (namely, I noticed the side effects, which for me was chronic headaches) and by day 9, I felt noticeably better. I think it can take anywhere from a week to a month to kick in, so just give it some time if you don't feel better right away. If you've been on prednisone, it definitely doesn't kick in as fast as pred.

Good luck on the Entocort, let us know how it goes.

yeah, good luck!
I started 9mg last week and felt better within 4-5 days, I tapered to 6mg this morning.
and the D is still behaving it's self!

Wow Joan. That's super quick. I'm jealous (again) but so pleased for you.
Maybe I'm just the odd one out with it taking a month...

That's encouraging. I can tough it out a few more days. Though last night I broke down screaming in pain and sobbing. And this morning I almost fell asleep at the wheel and had to take a nap in my car before work. I feel like I'm falling apart.

Hiya Steph

that's not good, screaming in pain? You shouldn't be suffering like this! Have you considered Prednisolone? I took this when I was screaming in pain last year, it healed me nicely. Entocort can put this disease into remission, but this depends on the severity of your disease. It's a quite localised med, small bowel and ascending colon only, so if your inflammation is further up the colon, Entocort might not be reaching it?
Doc told me I'm in remission and the only reason I'm taking it now is to blitz a current dose of diarrhea, which could've been a bug, but I have no pains at all. Once in remission, no inflammation, Entocort can be taken to maintain at 3mg for up to 3 months, this is my intention, it worked last time for me.
I would phone your doc, you shouldn't be in agony like this.

The intense pain usually only lasts 5-10 minutes. I just keep reminding myself that it will pass (hopefully before I pass out or throw up). I have severe crohns everywhere he could see with the scope. He wanted to put me on pred but I refused due to the side effects. BTDT and I decided I would only take steroids again if it were life and death. The past week forced me to compromise with the entocort. I'm also starting cimzia once they get their crap together and ship it to me.
