Last round I seem to remember it knocking the flare out of the ballpark in a day or two. This round, not so much. Reassure me that sometimes it takes longer and I have no reason to start worrying yet? :)

Hi Twois,

Is your dosage similar to the amount you were taking last time around? If you are taking the same dose and it is not working like last time, you might have success if the dose was increased.

Yeah, it's the same as last time, 40mg x 2 weeks then taper. I was so reluctant to take even this dose - ugh, the thought of increasing it! - but you've got a point. I'm going to give it a few more days, but... darn it, it should work!

Hey, im having exactly the same problem! When i had my first flare about 3yrs ago the steriods worked so quickly! But this time round 6 months down the line i am still on steroids have only been able to reduce down to 10mg daily & am still not back to normal or not even near! Hopefully they'll find something to work for us hey! X

i'm currently on prednisone for the second time

first time i took it, started at 40mg, and it kicked in very fast..i'd say within 3 days i noticed improvement...if not 3 days, definitely within a week!

this time, i started on the iv pred while in the hospital, and that kicked in very fast of course because it was iv... so within an hour i felt it... now i'm on 30mg tabs, day 3...it's still working! i'm on a bit of a lower dose and faster taper this time too, so i'll see how i do this time. last time i tapered much too quickly and had horrible withdrawal symptoms and severe crohn's symptoms (came back like a monster, it was the worst)

In the past when I experienced a flare three months on Prednisone starting with 48mg for at least six weeks and then slowly over period of 6weeks tappered the dosage. Last year I used Prednisone for 4 weeks, but within a week same problem, so I was very upset, but short term doesn't work and patience is a virtue.

Pred works really quick for me. I remember when I was first diagnosed, in hospital.. hadn't been eating.. after pred i was eating toast that day and appetite had returned.
I had to go back on it again recently.. again, worked quite quick.. few days .. lots of energy.
