i know some of you here probably have had shingles i was wondering how to get rid of the scars. i have a nice round one and smaller ones up my ribs on my back and smaller ones down by my lower tummy...the ones on my lower tummy is what really bothers me b/c they look like stretch marks

Hey..I've never had shingles myself, but a few of my friends have and they swear by rubbing "bio-oil" on it and some talked about vit E oil or tea tree oil...don't know if that'll help...but good luck:)

thank you for the reply i might try the bio-oil or even the tea tree oil...ive read some articles on the internet saying that most dermatologist go for dermabrasion...they just want their money

Vit e worked the best for me. There are also some OTC products that help decrease the appearance of scars. The key is to use the products while the scars are still red. If they turn white, microdrmabrasion is probably the only thing that works.

I was lucky and caught my shingles within the first 2 days so I didn't really scar. I would try vit. E. Right now I am trying Mederma for the scar that I got from my port surgery last month but I haven't seen much improvement so I am going to try the vit. E on that since it worked well on my resection surgery

I never have had shingles but I get terrible cystic acne from Crohn's coming out on the skin, as well as pred acne. I use Makeup Artist's Choice Rosehips Hibiscus Scar Cream - 86% Organic-it's awesome for healing scars! It has improved my skin so much I'm not self-conscious without makeup anymore. It's a little pricey but so worth it. A full Size 2 oz jar is $22.50.

I hope it works just as well for you!

The plastic surgeons use a silicone based gel now to reduce scarring.I'm not sure what it would be called in the US. It has to be used daily for quite a long period of time but seems to work for some.
