How to treat mouth ulcers?

DD re-developed her mouth ulcers over the weekend. And her throat is sore so I imagine they are running through her digestive tract again :( The mouth sores were one of the first clues that the GI nurse practitioner used to diagnose her Crohn's at the beginning. (what two other doctors said were caused by an eating disorder!)

Given her symptoms I am sure this means the inflammation is not in control. Her doc is sending us for labs today to get a Remicade level "mid infusion cycle" to confirm if yes indeed she is burning through her Remicade too quickly right now (she is only getting relief after an infusion for about 10-12 days)

Wondering if any of your kiddos experienced the mouth sores, and if so, any successful treatment to help alleviate her pain?

Docs can prescribe a "magic mouthwash". It does a good job. In the meantime make sure she is at least drinking enough so that she doesn't become dehydrated.

My daughter had mouth ulcers, but they weren't bad enough that we ever sought separate treatment for them. They did completely clear up quickly once her Crohn's started getting under control.

I get mouth ulcers regularly, I generally always have 1 or 2, even tho I'm considered to be in remission. My GI has prescribed a great ointment that works really well. It's called Oracort. I put a small dab on the sore before bed and it's much better in the morning. You have to let it dry with your mouth open and tongue out for a few minutes so no 'pillow talk' when I use it:)
