Hey guys,
So I haven't posted on here in so long because for ages because my Crohn's has been under control on Humira and 6MP.
However, I now have a major problem. I've been having treatment for genital warts since the beginning of October last year (I don't know how long I had them before that). I've had them frozen and had acid paint put on on them weekly for months. They did go down until they were almost gone and then I switched to Aldara cream which I used briefly but couldn't tolerate because it made the skin really sore. Last week I went to the GUM clinic and I was so happy because the nurse said they'd gone, however when I went to the clinic the week after she said that they'd started to grow back. I was absolutely devastated and spent 20 minutes blubbing to the nurse.
The reason this is so upsetting and is because I'm 2 months into a relationship with an amazing guy and it's been so difficult telling him about all of this, although when I did he was fantastic and really supportive, however now they're back it's causing us problems in the bedroom - really NOT what you want after just 2 months of seeing each other. I'm so scared that this is going to wreck our relationship and if it did I don't know how I'd cope because I'm seriously falling for him.
I stopped the Humira at the beginning of February and my doctor's advised that I stay on the 6MP as the Humira isn't yet out of my system and my immune system will currently be changing. He also confirmed that both medications will effect the body's ability to fight the HPV wart virus.
So I don't know what else to do. Is there anything I can do to boost my immune system while I'm on 6MP?? Will the warts even go while I'm on 6MP? Has anyone been through a similar experience?
I've been so stressed out lately trying to cope with this, any advice anyone can give about how to help myself physically and also any advice on how to help my relationship survive through this would be greatly appreciated.
