Humira and Medicade

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

your best bet would be to try calling the drug company themselves or calling the medicaid office. Try the drug company first and ask them if there is a program that assists folks who don't have insurance to pay for humira. Most drug companies (at least that is what I'm seeing where I live and from what I've heard at the local CCFA meeting)usually have one set up to help out IBD pts. who don't have drug coverage.

Another idea, call your local CCFA chapter and attend one of their meetings and talk to members who are going through the exact same thing you are. They'll be able to share stories and even give you contact names and numbers & help you avoid the red tape they had to go through. Good luck and feel better. ~Gutless Wonderwoman

Here is the information I got from the Humira website:

If you cannot afford your medication, contact: www.pparx.org or call the toll-free phone number (1-888-4PPA-NOW) for assistance.

Also from the Humira site:
Q: Does Medicaid cover and reimburse for HUMIRA?

A: Most state Medicaid programs provide coverage for HUMIRA. To find out the specific coverage policy and guidelines for a particular state Medicaid program, please contact 1.800.4.HUMIRA (1.800.448.6472) to speak with a HUMIRA reimbursement counselor.
