I contracted MRSA-HA while receiving Remicade infusions. I had to stop Remicade and my Doctor wants me to start on Humira. Because I continue to get MRSA outbreaks, I am a worried about starting Humira. How concerned should I be? As a side note, Remicade is the only medication I have taken in 25 years that had a positive effect on my Crohn's.

Hi 4chablis, welcome to the forum and sorry for the late reply.

As you saw in the thread you found in your first post it is possible to be on Humira while dealing with MRSA-HA yet it does lower the immune system and may increase your chance of getting more skin infections. In this case you'll have to weigh the pros and cons of treating your Crohn's with something that could very well work for you yet may increase your chance of having more skin infections (which can also be treated) or deal with less skin infections and possibly risk a flare which can cause its own horrible complications down the road. If possible ask your GI about other possible options (yet medications that suppress the immune system seem to work well for you). I'm sorry you got it during your Remicade infusions. D: Keep us posted on what you decide and how you're doing. :)
