....are embarking on a relationship...my NBF, don't let me down!

I jabbed the 2 loading doses in myself, I was soooooo brave!
I'm using the syringes and the first injected site bruised, and that's cos I was gripping my belly fat too hard!
The 2nd one hasn't bruised, cos I let go of the belly fat.
Didn't hurt at all, so I'm pleased with that, cos I was dreading it!
So fingers crossed, wish me luck bowel buddies!
Lotsa luv n stuff to everyone xxxx

That is different. I got 4 x 40mg the first time then 2 x 40mg 2 weeks later then 40mg every 2 weeks after that.

Wow Astra! You did the first ones yourself? Why did you not go for the pens?

I had my first 4 loading doses last week in my leg. 3 pen and 1 syringe done by the nurse. Pen hurt way more than the syringe. Trying to decide which to use.

Having 2 next time so may try doing both the syringe and pen myself to see which I prefer to do!

Hiya Michelle

Yes I'm so brave aren't I?
My IBD nurse Paul insisted I do it myself cos I will be doing it all myself in the future at home. I have to say, it was so easy!
Paul said that they didn't have any pens in stock and they would have to order them, I was so psyched up and ready, so said use the syringes.

Yes you are!!!!!

Same here although they said for the first round I don't have to worry about it. I am nervous about doing my own though so glad you found it easy! You didn't mind seeing the needle going into yourself? I always look away during blood tests!

Also they are bringing out new pens in March!

Are you feeling any better for them yet?

Hiya Michelle

I don't feel any different yet! I haven't got any side effects, yet!
I was reading the 3 foot long leaflet in the box, one of the side effects listed said heart stops pumping!
I'm no doctor, but wouldn't that mean death, lol!!
I'm gonna stick with the needles, they're only diddy ones, so I'm not gonna stress about it.
xx

I don't know tots
But I will ask why at my next appt with IBD nurse
Good luck Lauren xxx

Hey Joan, EJ's coming up on two years with Humira this spring. He's recently had to up to weekly but all in all he's done well on it. His bloods have never shown solid remission but he feels great 99% of the time. Hope it works wonders for you!!

Hey Mark!! Long time, no see! Glad EJ's doin great, hope it works for me too xx

Thanks B Baker xx

Just wanted to say good luck with the Humira Astra! I hope it works out for you. You are a brave person taking that needle on yourself. I get a bit nervous even thinking about the possibility of going down that road one day.

Do you psych yourself up/say anything to distract your mind right before the injection? Just curious. Glad it didn't hurt! :)

Thanks CrohnsChicago
I didn't even think about it! Just plunged it in, easy peasy!
I think determination and perseverance is the key to success, I've failed all other meds, this is my last chance, or it's surgery for me!

Hiya tots
I'm ok!!
I felt sick last night about an hour after the shot but I feel fine now. I just went to bed but really felt dizzy, like a room spinner when you're drunk!
When are you having yours Lauren?
xx
