Hello All
Everytime my daughter gets the Humira injection in her leg that area swells up(Nickle size) Is this normal or is this the beginning to a reaction? I hope not because the Humira is working great on her! Thank you in advance!

Gus never had a bump, but the burn was so bad that we did a lot of messaging, which probably helped to disperse the med.

Talk to your doc asap about it. Is it possible the injection didn't go deep enough? Faulty pen?

I get injection-site reactions -- I've gotten antibody tests and getting a bump doesn't mean there's anything wrong or that your daughter is having issues with Humira. :) It also doesn't mean you did the injection wrong -- it's normal for some people, myself included.

DS got satellite hives around his injection site .
He normally has a daily antihistamine so the doc just makes sure we give it prior to the injection. Instead of afterwards .
Also the back of his arms were worse than his thigh .
Just make sure your Gi is aware

Grace also had reactions at the injection site hives. It only lasted a few shots and then has stopped.

My son had this a few times early on. Are you using epipen or syringe? Humira has on-call nurses for questions, they know the meds and typical reactions better than GI does. It's probably fine as long as it goes away in a few minutes, takes a little time for the body to absorb it. Be sure you've got a good pinch and 45 degree angle. We ice up beforehand and cover with a blanket after to warm up. I wouldn't massage it.
