Has anyone else taken hydrocortisone (steroid) suppositories? I've been on them (brand name is Anucort) for a couple of weeks now. And I think I'm getting a bit of the old pred-head from them. I have had a little tougher time falling asleep lately, and my appetite is up. Sometimes WAY up! I've been starving for candy all afternoon although so far I've somehow resisted the urge (it's been difficult though!).

I'm on these suppositories for hemorrhoids and anal pain - I'm in remission, and on Asacol, which has stopped my d but not the frequency. So I'm still going anywhere from 4 to 10 times per day, and it's usually firm formed stools. All that going has really irritated my backside so my GI thought the suppositories might help. I don't know if they are, though. They seemed to help a bit at first, but then things plateaued and then got worse (I started off with one hemmie, now I have two!). I hate my hemmies and want to get rid of them, but I also am not a fan of the steroid side effects.

What do you guys think - it's probably not worth it to continue on with these, right? I'm going to call my GI tomorrow to see what he thinks, but in the meantime I thought I'd see if anybody else had success with these suppositories or if anybody else got a few steroid side effects from them. Maybe I just haven't given them enough time to really work? It's been about 2 weeks. Any words of advice for me?
