So, I take percocet, for the severe abdominal pain that I have. It also helps ALOT with the diarrhea. I know my body. I know when I have a problem, when to stop doing something, and when something is wrong. This percocet is really helping me right now, since I can't afford the drug treatments my GI put me on. I can barely get out of bed to run to the toilet when I'm not on them.
My GP gave me three refills of 60 percocet. I told him I was taking 2 a day. He specifically told me to take as many as I need, and that two is not enough. I have two pills left, and I tried to pick up my prescription today.
I called in advance so they would be ready when I got there, and the pharmASSist told me it was too soon to fill my rx. I got my last batch of 60 on april 28th. At 6 pills per day, that would last 10 days. It's been 11. I told him I have crohn's, and can't afford the drugs to fix it, so I need these to cope with the pain. He huffed and said ok. He calls back 5 minutes later saying my dr put 30 days between each refill, because I told him I was only taking 2 a day. My doctor is not in until 3, and my boyfriend works at 4. I can't drive myself because I'm legally intoxicated while I take these.
I JUST HATE PHARMACISTS. SO MUCH. They think they know everything. They think they know more than doctors, and have the right to give me medical advice. Not even advice, but straight up orders. You know what? I've got a prescription for it. That's all you need to know. Fill it or shove it up your ass.

Ok I'm done. Just needed to rant to people who will understand.
Have a good day everyone!

That has happend to me. It turned out my ins. would not cover the drug untill a certain date. It wasn't pharmacist at all. Could that be what has happend?

I don't think pharmacists can make decisions like that - they are just following the RX from the doc. Also with narcotics, they may have legal rules to follow regarding refills. We can't even get a script with a refill for narcs here in the US - at least i can't. You have to get a new script each time, and they can't fax or call it in - has to be in person.

Good luck - hope you get it sorted soon. - Amy

Oh i've been there with pharmacists, I feel your pain..... I put in a repeat script for my meds once last yr. I'm on a fair amount of heart drugs, but Im a medic and I know my own body and what I can handle and I had a bad cold and really wanted decongestants and cos of the heart issues they wouldnt sell me them! I was so cross, I was like "can i sign a disclosure then to accept full responsibility, Ive taken decongestants before and been fine in small doses"...... they wouldnt listen. I was fuming!

Hope you get some pain relief soon. In the meantime, its by no means a wonder cure, but I find a hot water bottle on the tummy and settling down on the couch is comforting and eases the pain a little (I even took a hot water bottle to my first exam last week!!).

Take care

UGH. So, after 24 hours, I get told my doctor won't sign the fax. So I can't get my pills until May 28th. These are the only things keeping me out of the hospital right now. I give it about 2 hours before the bloody diarrhea starts. This means I can't work until I get them. I don't know how they expect me pay my rent or bills. I'm so screwed. To make everything 100x worse, my boyfriend decided that today was the best day to have a little PMS. He's left for work a little while ago after throwing me a pack of smokes and telling me to suck it up. How supportive.

Don't you just love how life screws you about 50 times at once?

I don't know what my GI was talking about lol. He told me entocort is "extremely expensive." I just assumed it was like, $400. They're only $160 for the first month, then I start tapering so it will be cheaper for the next two months. If I knew that I would have been on it a while ago haha.
My job can be pretty shitty at times, but one good thing is the money. I make that much in one hour! In all fairness though, I could have dropped my prescriptions off alot sooner and found out the price, but I just thought they were way too expensive to get right away.

BTW, The doctors office ended up calling me while I was crying on the toilet, and he decided to take the interval off. So I got them anyways. I'm feeling great now, and my GI phoned me this morning too. I'm feeling very optimistic about my health, and the GI said it sounds like the inflammation is going away on its own. I might just be able to take imuran on it's own! yay!!

Entocort is a lot more expensive than Prednisone. Glad to hear it worked out for you, but for future reference, a month supply of pred would probably only run you $20.

:( Ja, here in Holland too. It is really a pain in the bottom... LOL! Paracetamol (common headache pill) is prescribed for EveRything after a week they will give a tickle of some slightly stronger med... a person has to practically flat line before they get help. I tell ya! drives a person scatty. :ybatty::smile:

I was told not to take tylenol or advil. My doctor told me it has the oppostie effect on crohn's and can make the inflammation worse.
Maybe he's wrong, or I didn't fully understand him. Although, I took two tylenol's yesterday when I had nothing else, and it made me feel so pukey and weak. I hate taking pills anyways. I'm looking into marijuana as an alternative for pain and nausea. I don't like smoking pot, but I figure if it's just a little bit, it could help more than it hurts. Plus, it's basically legal here, as long as you have no intent to distribute it.

Yes I have also been told Advil is a big no no! What a shame too cause it does work well for pain. As for tylenol, stay under 4000 mg a day. as for as I am concerned 4000 is still way to much apap to take in one day. 25, when do you start the Imuran? I have been on it for almost 10 years w/ no side effects. I am now in my first flare in 10 years. Personally I am up for a quick perdnisone taper but so far doc says no. I dont know what his plan is for me yet, but currently I am still on 150 imuran a day and Norco for pain and imodium for the D

Oh I forgot to mention my new friend Zofran. Zofran is awesome fo nausea!!!!

I think Advil (Ibproufen) is what is bad for Crohn's. Tylenol is OK as it is a different drug / chemical compound (acetaminophen). Just watch the maximum dose.

I don't know if i should be taking Alka-Seltzer pills, the ones u throw in water and watch bubble..... :) i love watching that things go. anyway it helps with pain. But from what i read, i can or shouldn't be taking it. But at this point i don't really care. i wonder if u had another doctor if he/she can write you up a new prescription. i know my primary care wrote me up some but i usually get it from my GI.
Feel better!

I have a history of liver problems in my family, so I try to steer clear of aceteminophen. It's reeeeally hard on your liver. My doctor told me that they put aceteminophen in percocet to discourage taking more than you're supposed to. It scares me, cuz sometimes I notice I look a little yellow in the whites of my eyes. Once I start on imuran, I have to get weekly blood work to watch my liver function.
But I swear to god I'm getting better on my own. I didn't take any percocet for 24 hours, and drank a coffee. I had two solid bm's and then the diarrhea started so I took some percocet. But the stomach pain is like, a 4 on the 1-10 pain scale, as opposed to the 7-8 it usually is. My appetite is back, and I'm generally feeling pretty well. I'm excited!

I was never a fan of Asprin, tylenol is lighter, I'm going to try that if Pentasa don't work.

I know the feeling of getting better on your own, there's nothing like it!
You just have to remember to keep note of what you're eating and taking. I wish I had the times I started feeling better.

I was mislead! I'm definitely not getting better. I've been having the worst few days =(
I'm just so sick of being in pain.

Oh damn. I have. Extra virgin olive oil. I keep reading how it helps with ibd pain. But I keep forgetting to add it to my food. I actually doubt that will help much through. If you have some you can try. This all sucks so badly. There's this Tea Of Life my older friend told me about, I must try some. It clear up somebody's stomach issue, I'm not sure what they had.
